Drake & Nicki Minaj inflict marriage Twitter hoax on fans, media

Canadian rapper Drake and New York rap princess Nicki Minaj took to Twitter last Friday to reveal they had wed in secret - only to have their reps shut down the hoax almost immediately.

"Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She's finally mine. :)," he tweeted Friday afternoon.

"Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot," Minaj tweeted after.

Reps denied the story, but not before Drake fangirls went mental.

Shakira no closer to marrying fiance

Colombian "She Wolf" singer Shakira was recently spotted wandering the beach hand in hand with her fiance, Antonio de la Rua, in Punta del Este, Uruguay - close to where she owns a ranch. In spite of their happiness together, the couple is in no hurry to wed.

The couple are approaching their tenth anniversary. After de la Rua proposed in 2001, it was reported that the pair would marry in 2007 at her home in the Dominican Republic, but it never happened. Media then either speculated that the private pair had wed in secret or had split, but neither turned out to be true.

On her Twitter last September, Shakira addressed the rumours by saying, "We are neither married nor fighting. We are very together and very good. 9 years!"

Tila Tequila's fiancee found dead

On Monday, January 4th, police were called to the home of 30-year-old Casey Johnson, heiress to the pharmaceutical giant Johnson & Johnson, where the L.A. socialite was found dead from a suspected drug overdose. Recent reports have suggested that Johnson may have been dead in her home for days before she was found.

Johnson, who adopted an almost three-year-old daughter she named Ava Monroe from Kazakhstan in March 2007, had been engaged to Tila Tequila, star of VH1's A Shot at Love for 3 seasons. Tequila took to her Twitter to announce their engagement last month.

Though they had been engaged - and Tequila referred to her on Twitter as "Wifey" - the reality TV star had been out of town in the first few days of 2010, and following a fight a few days before New Year's Eve, had not been in contact with the socialite since December 28th, the last time that Johnson left Tila's home.

Constantly Twittering her feelings throughout the ordeal, Tequila said of her fiancee: "u will forever be in my heart! I love u so so much and we will Marry when I see U in Heaven my Wifey."

Latest installment of The Bachelor begins tonight

ABC's The Bachelor/Bachelorette reality competition franchise has seen it's fair share of drama over the years, and select few finales have actually led to happy endings.

The original Bachelorette, Trista Rehn, married her Colorado firefighter Ryan Sutter, and the pair now have kids Max, 2, and Blakesley, 8 months. Charlie O'Connell - twin brother of actor Jerry - has remained with his selection, Sarah Brice, but there has been no indication of any trips down the aisle. And season 6 couple Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado reportedly still remain engaged, despite a few domestics along the way. Jillian Harris, last summer's Bachelorette, is currently planning a summer wedding to her final choice, Ed Swiderski.

And now, as The Bachelor kicks off it's 14th season tonight with Harris cast-off, pilot Jake Pavelka, it remains to be seen whether his final rose will lead to marriage.

In a recent blog post on People.com, while Pavelka promises drama and says "I am looking for love," he offers no hints to the show's final outcome.

American Idol's Jason Castro weds in Texas

Jason Castro, who finished fourth on Season 7 of American Idol in 2007, Tweeted his wedding announcement on Sunday, saying "Yesterday I married the girl of my dreams...It couldn't have been more perfect! Now, honeymoooon!!! :)"

On Saturday, January 2, 2010, Castro, best known for his take on the Israel Kamakawiwo'ole version of the classic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" during his tenure on the reality competition program, battled the flu and married his longtime girlfriend, Mandy Mayhall, in his hometown of Rowlett, Texas, near Dallas.

The engagement was confirmed in November, with Castro reportedly proposing on Halloween while the two were dressed as characters from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. (Another young couple recently relied on Disney to help make their wedding special, when Danielle Deleasa walked down the aisle towards new hubby, Kevin Jonas, to the song "Bella Notte" from Lady and the Tramp.)

Last week, Castro blogged about his bachelor party that included bowling, poker, and pool.
