Jingles the Penguin

Latest Finish 23.02.09, Jingles the Penguin - Click for a larger image! It felt kind of funny to be stitching a wintery penguin today here in West Texas Town as the temperature reached 80 degrees, but stitch (and finish) him I did.

Behold, "Jingles the Penguin" from the JCS 2007 Ornie issue! I didn't have all the floss and embellishments called for so Jingles doesn't have a button for a nose, a bell at the end of his Santa hat, or a fuzzy red scarf, but I think he is cute all the same.

A Merry Kitty Klaus

I had hoped that I would have more Christmas ornaments under my belt by this time this year, but things just never work out like you plan do they?

Oh well, here is the cute "A Merry Kitty Klaus" by Val's Stuff out of the 2007 JCS Ornament issue. Since I stitched it on Rue Green linen, I changed the background color around the kitty from green to pale yellow. I also didn't have any Whisper thread, so the brim of the Santa hat is just good old DMC blanc.

I haven't finished it into an ornament yet... maybe tomorrow.

A Colonial Christmas Ornament

Latest Finish: 17.04.08, A Colonial Christmas Ornament

Here is my latest ornament, "A Colonial Christmas Ornament" by Cherished Stitches from the 2007 JCS Ornament Issue. There are a few things about this piece that I should mention: First, instead of beads I chose to do French knots for the holly berries. Second, the date and the holly on the third panel are stitched over one... on 36 count! Third, I am especially proud of the cording that I made. After two or three years of making my own cording, I finally made a length that has uniform tension!

Winter Love Finished

Here is "Winter Love" finished into a pillow-style ornament. I had originally intended to make this into a tuck-pillow ornament, but after I trimmed my stitching I realized I didn’t really leave enough room for the "border" that characterizes a tuck-pillow so I just fell back on a regular pillow-style ornament instead. Turned out cute, no?

Winter Love

Hello All! I am new to this Christmas Ornament SAL, but I joined as a way to keep myself motivated for a Christmas Ornament Challenge that I have set for myself.

Today I finished the stitching for my first ornament. It is "Winter Love" by SamSarah Design Studio and can be found in the JCS 2007 Christmas Ornament issue. I currently don't have any fabric to finish it into the tuck-pillow ornament that I have planned, but as soon as I get some I will.
